Even though 2017 is the first year you’re required to collect and report your MACRA quality data, the question of whether you qualify for an Alternative Payment Model (APM) was still open for most providers. The benefit of qualifying to report under APM guidelines is that you don’t have to worry about getting your future Medicare reimbursement cut based on the data you report.
Up until earlier this month, it was somewhat of a guessing game as to who qualifies for APM reporting. On June 8th, CMS announced the Quality Payment Program website where you can plug in provider NPIs and find out if they are Qualified Providers (QP) and can report data under APM guidelines.
