Caren brings with her over 21 years experience in practice management, coding, billing and reimbursement. Her background includes 6 years as an active duty Navy operating room technician, where she participated in surgeries of all specialties.
She has worked in various practice settings such as Orthopedics, Oral Surgery, General Surgery and Multi-specialty practices. This varied work experience has enabled her to gain insight into the billing and coding problems specific to these areas.
Her experience allows better understanding of the procedures that she is coding both from the office and the operating room.
She has served on the board of the Richmond Association of Coders for the last three years. She has been a certified coder since 1999 and has been certified as a coding instructor since 2005. She also holds a specialty certification in Interventional Radiology Coding.
In Caren’s spare time, she enjoys spending time with her three children and riding her horses. She and her husband, Steve, who is a surgeon for a large surgical practice in the Richmond area, also love to travel.
