Debra K. Udey, Risk Management Consultant, has worked in the medical malpractice (professional liability) field for over 30 years. Her 12 years of claim experience – for a doctor-owned medical malpractice company and in a hospital setting – gave her the necessary medical, legal and claim knowledge to direct the doctors and lawyers working on the claim process. She then moved to the risk management side of professional liability, presenting risk management principles based on detailed dental, oral surgery and medical cases to audiences of dentists, doctors and staff. Her unique background in medical, legal and claim experience allows her to realistically address the patient medical experience. More importantly, the experience can assist dentists and staff to render better care, decrease the chances of a claim, and better defend a claim if it occurs.
