Ms. Hauptman specializes in Auditing and Assessments, Coding and Compliance, and Education, Expert Testimony, and Editing. In this capacity, she has had the opportunity to assess practice operations to help in streamlining practices while increasing productivity and compliance. She is a technical writer for publishers that include Optum360, American Medical Association (AMA) and the Coding Institute.
She has educated over 1000 physicians and many more coders around documentation principles, auditing, and providing an excellent patient experience. Prior to her work at ACE Med she was the Medical Coding Director for Acusis where her team coded and audited procedural coding, evaluation and management coding as well as facility coding. She was the Director of Central Coding at Allegheny Health Network (AHN) responsible for a staff of coders doing the pre-bill coding for all services throughout the system. She was also the manager of Physician Compliance Auditing at AHN managing auditors reviewing physician documentation as well as investigating HIPAA breaches. She had also been the Senior Director of Physician Services at Health Revenue Assurance Associates and the Senior Manager of Coding Education and Documentation Compliance at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. She is active with the AAPC having been on their Board of Directors for local chapters as well as the National Advisory Board, local chapter vice president and president. She is a current member of the Optum Coding and Referential Advisory Board and the Coding Institute Editorial Board. She speaks around the country on various topics related to coding, healthcare, compliance and practice operations.
