As the Chief Legal and Compliance Officer for U.S. Foot and Ankle Specialists, Jennifer Searfoss, Esq. leads and manages the legal and compliance functions for the MidAtlantic group. Jennifer has always been passionate about helping physicians improve their compliance.
She brings a wealth of experience in physician practice management, particularly in the areas coding, reimbursement, and compliance. She’s a former licensed EMT-B, holds bachelor’s degree/clinical training in medical technology [MT(ASCP)] and has a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Iowa. With coding certification by both the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) and the American College of Medical Coding Specialists (ACMCS), Joan is also one of the nation’s first certified healthcare compliance consultants (2000).
Kim is an independent coding and reimbursement consultant, providing audit, training and oversight of coding and reimbursement functions for physicians.
Laureen has over 30 years in the healthcare field. She graduated as an Occupational Therapist in 1986 and before long was running a successful therapy practice which did over 1.6 million in billing per year with a less than .06% rejection rate.
Leonta (Lee) Williams is currently the Director of Coding at a large physician organization in the southeast. Lee has over 15 years of experience working in both the outpatient and inpatient setting. Some of her professional roles have included coder, auditor, practice manager, educator, and trainer. Lee has presented at national healthcare conferences, private healthcare training organizations, and has frequently contributed articles to healthcare publications. She currently serves on a number of Boards including Georgia Health Information Management Association (GHIMA) and the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC). Lee has a B.S.
Leslie received her CPC from the American Academy of Professional Coders in 2002 and recently obtained a CMCS, Certified Medical Coding Specialist from American Medical Billing Association (AMBA) in 2019. Since 2004, her career focus has consisted of multi-specialty documentation, coding, billing and contract audits for educational purposes, internal benchmarking and complex legal reviews, fee scheduling and audits.
Lynn Anderanin, has over 40 years’ experience in all areas of the physician practice. In her current position, where she has been for 25 years, Lynn is the Sr.
Lynn Handy manages all Professional Coding and Education services at Altegra. This includes Provider Compliance audits, concurrent coding, Risk Adjustment Data Validation Audits, RADV services and provider education that includes ICD-10. Lynn has been in Health Care for over 30 years with a clinical nursing background and many years of managing Family Practice, Internal Medicine and Psychiatric group practices.
Dr. Dunaway was on every-other-night-on-call general surgeon in a small South Carolina town for seventeen years when he created a streamlined E&M algorithm, (Risk Based Coding™), to simplify and streamline E&M coding after attending a very frustrating coding seminar in Atlanta, GA. He wrote Pocket Guide to Clinical Coding in 1997 and subsequently left clinical practice to create a physician education business and created the commercially available Dunaway Documentation System. He has been an award winning, (Designated CSP, Certified Speaking Professional, by the National Speakers Association), full-time speaker and consultant since 2002, has spoken professionally in 47 states to date.
Marianne Harper is the owner of “The Art of Practice Management”, a dental practice management company. Her background consists of an education major, certification in a dental assisting curriculum and courses in business and accounting.
